They are Service to humanity: leveraging technology and engineering to benefit human welfare; promoting public awareness and understanding of the engineering profession. Global focus: supporting and embracing the global nature of and need for technical work and engineering solutions. Trust and respect: promoting a culture where contributions at all levels are valued; encouraging member driven, volunteer-led, knowledge-based projects; building effective volunteer/staff partnerships. Growth and nurturing of the profession: encouraging education as a fundamental activity of engineers, scientists, and technologists at all levels and at all times; ensuring a pipeline of students to preserve the profession. Collaboration and community building: cultivating active, vibrant, and honest exchange among cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary global communities of technical professionals. Professionalism: creating a world in which engineers and scientists are respected for their exemplary ethical behavior and volunteerism. Intellectual activity: forward-thinking; nurturing new and existing science and technology. Peer-reviewed: using unbiased information to enhance the quality of life for all people. Mission Fostering technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. 18-Jan-19

IEEE 2011 Goals 1.  Ensure sustainable progress toward Establishing IEEE’s leadership in important new technical areas (including the smart grid and selected areas within life sciences). 2. Develop and approve a plan to ensure that IEEE is at the forefront of digital publishing technology. 3. Develop and approve an IEEE conference strategy – including protection of the quality of IEEE publications.

IEEE 2011 Goals 4. Develop collaborative strategic alliances with other associations and publishers (including exploration of new joint membership agreements and incorporation of new publications in Xplore®). 5. Ensure all members are engaged and find a professional home in IEEE; create a global strategic member development plan, particularly emphasizing practicing engineers/technologists and young professionals, especially where IEEE membership is declining.

IEEE Foundation Mission The IEEE Foundation cultivates relationships Provide donor resources To advance IEEE’s core purpose to foster technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity 1/18/2019

What the IEEE Foundation Does The IEEE Foundation fulfills its purpose by Matching donor interests with IEEE activities Managing the use of donations to achieve the intent of the donor Awarding grants to new and innovative projects Serving as the fund administrator for programs of IEEE units Assisting IEEE OU’s in preparing fundraising opportunities of interest to donors 1/18/2019

Addressing IEEE High Impact Outreach Opportunities An opportunity for a new relationship between the IEEE Foundation and the IEEE IEEE Foundation will cultivate relationships to address priority outreach interests of the IEEE Increase IEEE outreach activities Increase donor contributions

Address High Impact Outreach Interests of Donors High Impact Outreach Opportunities Innovation and Invention Applications of Technology in the Developing World Education Reform Service Engineering Others? How will the IEEE Foundation help IEEE maximize its impact?

Navigating the Road Ahead? Cultivate top industry leaders to advise the IEEE Foundation in addressing high impact outreach opportunities Invite panels to share industry priorities for outreach opportunities IEEE Foundation Directors will assist with potential donor cultivation

The Delivery Cultivate IEEE leaders to foster the implementation of the advice of industry leaders Assist IEEE units in developing activities to respond to priority for outreach opportunities Transition to mini campaigns to deliver donors to fund outreach activities
