Who? Colonies vs Hessians (German mercenaries) Colony commanders: George Washington and Nathanael Greene 2400 militia and 18 cannons 2 dead and 5 wounded Hessian Commander: Johann Rall 1500 Hessians and 6 cannons 22 killed, 83 wounded and roughly 1000 captured

What Happened? The continental army crossed the Delaware River into New Jersey They surprised the Hessians at the garrison The day after Christmas so basically all the Hessians were wasted

Significance? Inspired the rebels Got new recruits to join the Removed the Hessians from the war (were only getting paid to fight, didn’t really care who won) Happened the day after Christmas
