Global Public Policy Networks - The Context Transformation of governance multi-level multi-sectoral Networked Governance

Global Public Policy Networks internalize the changing environment. www.globalpublicpolicy.net Global Public Policy Networks internalize the changing environment. Networks take advantage of technological innovation and political liberalization. Networks pull diverse groups and resources together. Networks address issues that no group can resolve by itself. ‘Strength of Weak Ties’

Key functions of networks www.globalpublicpolicy.net Key functions of networks Networks facilitate the negotiation and setting of global standards. Networks serve as mechanisms for developing and disseminating knowledge. Networks make markets where they are lacking, and deepen them where they do not fulfill their potential. Networks serve as innovative implementation mechanisms. Networks create trust and help to close the participatory gap.

Management Principles of Networks. www.globalpublicpolicy.net Management Principles of Networks. Getting the network up and running requires personal and institutional leadership. Balancing adequate consultation with delivery is key to success ”structured informality” Multisectoral Cooperation requires substantial organizational change. Meeting the dual challenge of inclusion (local-global & North/South) is imperative to ensure legitimacy and sustainability.

From Vision to Practice www.globalpublicpolicy.net From Vision to Practice Create ‘best practice’ focal point and promote social entrepreneurship Improve ‘interface’ capacity through reform of governance structures and training programs Tackle the dual challenge of inclusion local-global North/South Provide political leadership
