T HE T HINGS W E D O T HE T HINGS W E S AY M AKE U S W HO W E A RE

When deeds speak, words mean nothing.

What you do matters.

They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.

If it's a good day, enjoy it! If it's a bad day, learn from it.

Tis the good reader that makes the good book.

Lives of great men all remind us, we can make our lives sublime, and departing, leave behind us footprints on the sands of time.

Anyone can be cool, but awesome takes practice.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

Books do not make life easier or more simple, but harder and more interesting.

What is written without effort is read without pleasure.

Discomfort can be a catalyst for growth. It makes us yearn for something more. It forces us to change, stretch and adapt.

Our life is frittered away by detail. Simplify!

The cruelest lies are often told in silence.

Thought inspires thought.

Fair is not equal. Fair is everyone getting what they need.

It is easier to build up a child than it is to repair an adult.... choose your word's wisely.

All kids are gifted. Some just open their packages earlier than others.

Walk a mile in my shoes, see what I see, feel what I feel, then maybe you'll understand why I do what I do. Until then, don't judge me.

Character is what you do when nobody is watching.

The way we talk to children becomes their inner voice.

I have come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element. It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. I possess tremendous power to make a life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture, or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated, and a person humanized or dehumanized. If we treat people as they are, we make them worse. If we treat people as they ought to be, we help them become what they are capable of becoming.

I reject your reality and substitute my own.

The right word may be effective, but no word was ever as effective as a rightly timed pause.

Loyalty to petrified opinion never yet broke a chain or freed a human soul.

Nobody said it would be easy. But they didn't say it would be this much fun either.

Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are.

Life happens when you're busy making other plans.

What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.

The expert in anything was once a beginner.

A friend is a stranger you haven't met yet.

There is no off position to the genius switch.

Better to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission.

Time enjoyed wasting time is not wasted time.

It is not what you do for your children, but what you have taught them to do for themselves that will make them successful human beings.

A teacher's purpose is not to create students in his own image, but to develop students who can create their own image.

All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of a single candle.

A smile is a curve that sets everything straight.

If all my possessions were taken from me with the exception of one, I would choose to keep the power of communication, for by it, I would soon regain all the rest.

You never know how strong you are, until being strong is the only choice you have.

What other people think of me really isn't any of my business.

Where love is deep, much will be accomplished.

Never give up!

There are some things worth going to jail for.

Be what you are.

To thine own self be true.
