Eleanor Roosevelt

Birth She was born on October 11, 1884. She grew up in New York City. She went to school in England when she was 15 years old.

Why is this person important? She was the wife of President Franklin Roosevelt. She worked beside her husband and helped him a lot when he got sick. She believed that all people should be treated the same.

Eleanor was a Human Rights Leader She believed that all people should be treated equally. She helped draft the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights after Word War II. The declaration states all persons are born free and equal in dignity.

Fun Facts Eleanor was her middle name. Her first name was really Anna. Her nickname was Ellie. She had 6 children. She later became known as the First Lady of the World!

Death Eleanor Roosevelt died on November 7, 1962. She was 78 years old. She was buried next to her husband in New York.
