Learning Target (Our Objective) EXAMINE THE INFLUENCE OF THE MONROE DOCTRINE.

“The Era of Good Feelings” Following the War of 1812, the U.S. enters into a period where national pride is at an all time high. (The Era of Good Feelings) > We have shown the world that we are a strong and independent country.

Monroe Doctrine 1823 · The U.S. tells Europe that North and South America should no longer be thought of as areas for European colonization. · In return, the U.S. would not interfere with European wars. GOALS: - To protect the independence of new Latin American nations. Basically, they were not supposed to get into our business, and we were to stay out of theirs.

The Monroe Doctrine 1823 What was it? Who was it between? A declaration that the U.S. had the right to REFUSE European expansion into the Western Hemisphere. Who was it between? The U.S. & Europe What did it concern? To Stop Europe from colonizing in the Americas.

Western Hemisphere or the Americas is Off limits to Europe!!!
