SB 1788 Sec. 29.0111. BEGINNING OF TRANSITION PLANNING. Appropriate state transition planning under the procedure adopted under Section 29.011 must begin for a student not later than when the student reaches 14 years of age. Effective June 2011

TEC 29.011 Student involvement Parental involvement Postsecondary education options Functional vocational evaluation Employment goals and objectives Age‐appropriate instructional environments (18+) Independent living goals and objectives Referral to appropriate agencies Refer to handout (Transition By Age 14: Considerations for Districts) KEY POINT: Districts are advised to consider HOW each of these requirements can be appropriately applied for students in Middle School/Junior High, not to omit any of the items as the ARDC plans for transition and post-school outcomes

Results: Indicator13 These are the results beginning with the 2007-2008 school year, which was the first year that all districts had to submit data for indicator 13. The blue column shows the statewide results, and the red column shows the results for districts in Region XIII. R13 (2010-11) 1,296 Student Folders reviewed 1,287 Folders met compliance (99.31%) 9 folders not compliant (0.69%) Statewide Total (2010-11) 18,554 Student Folders reviewed 18,282 Folders met compliance (98.53%) 272 folders not compliant (1.47%)

Results: Indicator 14 August 2010 Statewide Report 920 Respondents To review SPP 14 results let’s take a look at the most recent statewide report, which was published in August 2010. This data is based on students who exited during the 2008-09 school year. This is still the data from when 1/6 of districts had to report, so this is not representative of all districts. 920 respondents out of 2,271 records received. Higher Ed OR competitively Employed = 59% Any activity = 72% More reports can be found on the SPP websites at TEA and Region XIII. Next year’s report will have the Class of 2010, which will include all districts and all campuses. August 2010 Statewide Report 920 Respondents

Results: Indicator 14 August 2010 Region XIII Report 73 Respondents In Region 13, there were over 2,000 students in the 2009 cohort. Of those, 73 represent the data in this chart August 2010 Region XIII Report 73 Respondents
