Commitment 6 in Delivering for Mental Health (2006): "NHS QIS will develop the standards for ICPs for schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, dementia and personality disorder by the end of 2007. NHS board areas will develop and implement ICPs and these will be accredited from 2008 onwards.“ 2

Standards - elements Process Generic care Condition specific Service improvement

Process standard (relating to Psychological Therapies) Standard 5: Training needs assessment Standard statement: Training and supervision needs are identified and acted upon Incorporated into Workforce development plans and local governance arrangements

Generic care standard (relating to Psychological Therapies) Standard 15: Suitability for psychological and/or psychosocial interventions Standard statement: The need for structured psychological and/or psychosocial intervention for the service user is assessed

Condition specific care standards (relating to Psychological Therapies) Standard 28 (Dementia): Matched intervention Standard 31 (Schizophrenia): Delivery of psycho-educational, psychological and psychosocial therapies Standard 35 (Depression): Depression-focused brief psychological therapies Standard 36 (Depression): Treatment is commenced after an objective measure of severity
