I´m very happy to be her and participate in this very important conference, My name is Asha Jama and I work at PHAS. I am here to present our project called Tailoring communiations interventions targiting Somali community in Sweden regardning MMR vaccination.

Vaccination coverage for MMR vaccine among two year olds in Sweden and Stockholm region As many of you already know Sweden has a high level of vaccination coverage regarding the national immunization program for children. This graf illlustrats the high vaccination with the red line showing vaccination coverage on a national level. Even on a regional level you can see similar high levels as the national. However in 2002 there was a slight decrease in the coverage but in two year recovering back to the high levels at 97 percent. 2019-01-18

Vaccination coverage for MMR vaccine among two year olds in Sweden, Stockholm and Tensta/Rinkeby If we look at the vaccination coverage on a local level, Rinkeby (dark purple triangles) and Tensta (pink squares) you can see they vaccine coverage is lower than stockholm orange square and the national avergae for all sweden RED 2019-01-18

A peer, mother and active community member who builds bridges Broad communication package (1) - digital, visual and oral Dialog seminars Face to face interaction series of seminars for parents established a peer-to-peer group of parents 32 Peers Description The intervention consists of innovative tailored communication packages including: (i) oral, visual information and public seminars in Somali; (ii) a parent peer-to-peer group training; (iii) updating seminars on vaccine hesitancy for the Child Health Clinic (CHC) staff. The long-term goal is to evaluate the intervention by using quantitative and qualitative methods in order to provide recommendations on whether these practices can influence future policies addressing vaccine hesitancy.   A peer, mother and active community member who builds bridges

Support CHC staff Tailored lectures with updated information on vaccine issues Emphasis on how to communicate with vaccine hesitant parents Further training in MI-method (Motivating Interviews) Support by networks/FAQ direct 2019-01-18

Preliminary results and on going evaluation The peers are reaching hesitant parents with vaccine information. The films are well used and some parents have reported increased knowledge and behaviour change. Positive trend in vaccination coverage in Rinkeby and Tensta. 2019-01-18
