SESSION OVERVIEW The heart of change Firing up people during change Leadership in change Dimensions of change Employee Wellness

Change Quote it is not the strongest species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the ones who are most responsive to change Charles Darwin See-- -feel - -change The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams Eleanor Roosevelt

The story of the eagle…

The eagle has the longest life-span of its species

But to reach this age, the eagle must make a hard decision It can live up to 70 years

Its long and flexible talons can no longer grab prey which serves as food In its 40s

Its long and sharp beak becomes bent

Its old-aged and heavy wings, due to their thick feathers, become stuck to its chest and make it difficult to fly

Then, the eagle is left with only two options: die or go through a painful process of change which lasts 150 days.

The process requires that the eagle fly to a mountain top and sit on its nest

There the eagle knocks its beak against a rock until it plucks it out

After plucking it out, the eagle will wait for a new beak to grow back and then it will pluck out its talons

When its new talons grow back, the eagle starts plucking its old-aged feathers

30 more years And after five months, the eagle takes its famous flight of rebirth and lives for more years.

Many times, in order to survive and succeed we have to start a change process Why is change needed? BECOMING THE BEST IS TO EMBRACE CHANGE NOW To become the best organization, we sometimes need to get rid of old memories, habits and other past traditions. Only freed from past burdens, can we take advantage of the valuable outcomes from...

Why the story St Francis of Assisi – Start by doing what is necessary, then do what is possible and you will soon find yourself doing the impossible. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got. To survive in the ever competitive business environment we have to behave like the eagle – re engineer ourselves in the way we carry our business. The customers will keep on adjusting the bar of performance from us as service providers.

The Heart of change It is not strategy, not systems, not culture. These elements and many others can be very important, but the core issue at hand is people - what people do, smell, think, feel, values and the outcomes of people behaviour that will determine the success of an organsation. The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams Eleanor Roosevelt See-- -feel - -change

Heart of change contd.. How to Change behavior. … giving people analysis to influence their thoughts than helping them to see truth to influence their feelings. Both thinking and feeling are essential, and both are found in successful organizations, but the heart of change is in the emotions. The flow of see-feel-change is more powerful than that of analysis-think-change. The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams Eleanor Roosevelt See-- -feel - -change

The Heart of Change The secret of success is not what you were taught in school, not academic excellence, not a business school degree, not even technical know-how or years of experience but how you deal with our emotions in the work place. See-- -feel - -change The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams Eleanor Roosevelt

The Heart of change contd.. The Heart of change contd.. What distinguishes star performers from mediocrity is emotional management. Emotional management is a set of skills that anyone can acquire for change to occurr. See-- -feel - -change The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams Eleanor Roosevelt

Farsightedness – Create the future Align your life with your biggest dreams Keep glancing ahead Hope irrationally Die young as late as possible Champion lost causes Know how to get gone Todays actionsThe future PossibilitiesThe Pasts Lessons Remembrance Current reality Desired Results

Firing up people to create success People are NOT the most important resource. It is the right people. People are the most difficult resource to manage, unpredictable and emotional. Touching the right button makes the difference Inspiring and motivating Focus on soft issues See-- -feel - -change The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams Eleanor Roosevelt
