Open to all CLPOA members in good standing One response per family membership Online and Paper responses available Can provide a baseline for future changes Survey open for input from June 12 – June 28, 2013 Survey Method

Q1. Survey Response Rate – 64/109 Survey practices* suggest we are +/- 10%, 19 times out of 20 Q1. Where on the lake is your property? *

Q2. Our History Q2. How long have you and your family been coming to Clear Lake?

Q3. How We Use Clear Lake? Q3. Describe your use of Clear Lake Experience?

Q4. What we Value Q4. Importance of Factors to Clear Lake experience?

Q4. Satisfaction Q5. Satisfaction with Factors of Clear Lake experience?

Q4. Biggest Gaps Q. Satisfaction with Factors of Clear Lake experience? Top Critical Values Water Quality Peace and Quiet/Tranquility Different from the City Natural Beauty Peace and Tranquility Safe and Friendly Top Dissatisfied Factors Water Quality Peace and Quiet/Tranquility Different from the City Natural Beauty Community Events Party Atmosphere

5. Please tell us about any other factors that are important to you that you would like to comment on? 1. Clear Lake has never been a quiet lake but that is part of its draw. It is a great lake for long time residents and knowing everyone around the lake. 2. Less speed boat traffic!! 3. Shoreline being destroyed by wakeboarding boats. Need more controls. 4. Mutual respect regarding neighbours is very important. A sense of warmth in our community. Community bonds on the lake bring families together. Maintaining property values both as investments and as permanent homes. A depreciation of lake value property can virtually wipe out a home, a business and a lake community. 5. Too many boats and too big for this lake As we are on a point we have been in danger swimming in front of our cottage with the speed boats. 6. Consideration of wildlife use of the water BEFORE our own (ie. polluting the only natural habitat available to a variety of species with recreational use as a form of 'relaxation' on the weekends) 7. Water and shoreline protected. 8. Maintaining shorelines without further deterioration. Thanks for a TON of rich input 38. I enjoy the quiet times of canoeing and fishing both, ice fish winter and canoeing spring, both here and in the park--also enjoy the busy period thru July August-the boating and sport related activities of skiing with freinds on the ski coarse, barefooting and wakeboard--important to maintain or improve water quality-motor tech has improved in both outboard motor and skidoos -this should translate into less pollutants being fed into our lake--this also applies to septic systems-possible monitoring to improve quaity of new and existing systems to ensure 39. 1) Shoreline erosion due to boat wakes 2) Maintenance of public boat launch

Lots of passion about boat traffic: wakes, safety, noise, common courtesy Concerns about the environment Concerns about peace and quiet (music playing from docks and boats) Recognition that we are a busy, fun lake Q5. Other Comments Summary

Q6. Best Memories Summary Bonfires Dinners with family Skiing and tubing with the kids Paddling and kayaking Fishing Quiet Mornings and Evenings Swimming at the Dock Hearing the Loons

Q7. Priorities for CLPOA Board

Q8. Communication Preferences

Generally you are very happy with communication improvements made this past year Some suggest more opportunity for meetings Some want local politicians more involved in and accountable for our issues Q9. Communication Suggestions Summary

Strike a volunteer committee to review the data in detail and prepare a report to the CLPOA Members and Board If you want to volunteer, please contact me: We will post the detailed survey results and this presentation on the CLPOA Website Next Step: Analysis and Report.
