International Orality Network… why? More than 6.5 billion people… All uniquely designed by God to bring glory unto Him… Many of them without an effective witness from Gods story… the Bible

The Great Commission Gods opportunity for us to be stewards of His mandate and for Him to work through us… its not our task to own and do this for God. The urgency is Gods…availability and faithfulness as stewards is our responsibility. Sensitivity to Gods leading is a prime must, for His ways are not our ways… its not about us, our ministries, our tools, but about Him being glorified in all the people of the world.

How we need to serve… We receive vision from God and become stewards for Him to work through. We seek to serve people in the context of who they are (just like Jesus did). We make prayer a foundation and allow Gods Spirit to move us forward, using any methods and resources He gives us access to, so He will remain the center of it all.

How we need to serve… We receive vision from God and become stewards for Him to work through. We seek to serve people in the context of who they are (just like Jesus did). We make prayer a foundation and allows Gods Spirit to move us forward, using any methods and resources He gives us access to, so He will remain the center of it all.

Key principles that help to serve people in the context of who they are People are relational and we are sharing about a relationship with the one and only living God. People need to be able to understand and relate to Gods truth. We need to consider what they already know and what their attitude is to what they know. Seek God for open doors, bridges and existing foundations and build on these.

What does that mean? We show interest in people… not just in their salvation. We recognize that as a foundation their worldview needs to become a Biblical worldview, so the local church can grow, mature and multiply over time in each unique context. The 70 % of the worlds population that are oral learners will be served/reached/equipped.

How do we go to work? Respectfully - toward each individual person and the beauty of their culture. Purposefully - to communicate life using Gods Word in easy reproducible methods. Relevantly - to enable people to hear Gods Word that relates to their current life issues. Effectively - to allow Gods Word to be reflected in culturally appropriate ways (using story telling, song, drama, dance, poetry, proverbs, chanting, riddles, print, visuals, rituals, etc.) Interactively - to model the relationship God offers and the growth opportunities it facilitates.

Why we need an International Orality Network… International: Were addressing universal principles. Were dealing with a global issue. Orality: This gives us a focus on the value of effective oral communication strategies that are relevant in holistic and incarnational ministry to 99% of the worlds population. Network: We need one another, we cant do it alone. Change doesnt come easy. We still have a lot to learn. The world needs to see us united, relating one to another.

So… that is why there is the… February 2008, Durk Meijer, ION Facilitator
