What is CEI A formal paragraph that argues a position includes a CLAIM, EVIDENCE, and INTERPRETATION. Claim: ONE sentence that states your OPINION about the topic and includes a REASON why Must be arguable Evidence: Words from the TEXT that prove your claim. These are FACTS. Quotes from the text you are using Expert opinion Interpretation: THREE sentences that explain how the evidence SUPPORTS the claim.

RECAP of CEI Claim= OPINION Evidence= FACTS Interpretation= YOUR OWN IDEAS

QHT Strategy: Question/Heard/Teach Lamented Dainty Indignity Reproach Sulk Listlessly Bellows Embraceless Entranced Frenzied Sauciness Modest Cascaded Frantic Trills Staccato Reverie Preludes Discordant Petticoats Scarred Debut Envisioned Gawkers Fiasco Nonchalantly Asserting Inevitable Reconditioned Sentimental

Choose one question to answer with a claim Is the conflict in the story mainly internal or external? OR What does the title “Two Kinds” illustrate about cultural identity? If co-taught students need a frame, we will provide them with one. Collect and review before tomorrow this will be an opportunity for us to see what students can do before claim smackdown Tuesday. Perhaps we may need to differentiate? Or not! 
