Marie Tussaud Madame Tussaud was born in Strasbourg in 1761 and christened Marie Grosholtz. Marie was asked to prepare the death masks of her former employers after they had been executed -Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI. She died in April 1850 at the age of 89.

Madame Tussauds exhibition In 1835 the exhibition found a permanent home. It was in London… In 1884 the exhibition was moved to its present site in Marylebone Road. During the night of 8 th September 1940, Madame Tussauds was struck by a heavy bomb which inflicted significant damage.
