In FORSAND, not far from STAVANGER in the Norwegian province Rogaland, there is a huge CLIFF which towers 600 m above the fjord Lysefjorden... The plateau at the top is about 25 meters by 25 meters and is nearly flat. But … it is NOT fenced off !!! Reaching the top of the cliff isnt the dream of climbers, but it is the dream of the approximately tourists who conquer the pulpit each year. The pulpit is undoubtedly the most wellknown attraction of Stavanger. At the parking the path to the top of the cliff starts at an altitude of about 270 m … a track that will lead in about 2 hours to the plateau, 600 m above the fjord. Of course you can enjoy a breathtaking and unique view there! Take care to have the right outfit: although the path is well built, climbing boots are stronly advised ! AND YOU CERTAINLY HAVE TO BE IN A GOOD PHYSICAL CONDITION

Welcome to the Pulpit

At this sign at the parking you see the track and the hight.

The start.

Wooden footbridge at the beginning.

The path continues... still flat...

From here the climbing gets more difficult...

You have to climb over stones and rocks...

A stop to rest and take a picture.

You can take a refreshing drink from a crystal-clear brook.

Higher up some dangerous looking carpentry that seems to hang in the air...

Nearly there...

And behold... The Pulpit !

No further explanation... But who suffers from dizzyness better shouldnt watch this !

Granddad wants to have a good look...

Dad is more careful...

Guess you fall off...

Youth doesnt know fear ?

Mom doesnt take any risk...

After the first fright it is fun...

No fear at all...

Daredevil...

This big crack ends in the water at the bottom. This Scandinavian beauty seems fearless...

There are always people who risk more...

Mad, madder, madst...

Is it really fixed tight... ?
