SKILL CHECK Day 2 – Convert Logs to Exponentials, vice versa and Solve using one to one property

Daily Question: How do you expand logarithms? 6.2 Expanding Logs Daily Question: How do you expand logarithms?

Properties of Logarithms Product Property Quotient Property Power Property

Strategies when expanding logarithms Change radicals to rational (fraction) exponents. Expand the multiplication and/or division Move the exponent(s) LAST

Expand. 3. log105x3y

Expand.

Ex. 7 Expand.

Use and to evaluate the logarithm. Ex. 8 Use and to evaluate the logarithm.

Questions??

Strategies for condensing logarithms If there is a number in front of the log, move it back to an exponent FIRST. Write fraction exponents as radicals. If there is a number raised to a power, simplify. Condense addition back to multiplication and subtraction back to division. The final answer will have log written only ONCE and will have no fractions as exponents.
