Joshua Israel served the L ORD all the days of Joshua and all the days of the elders who survived Joshua, and had known all the deeds of the L ORD which He had done for Israel.

Judges 2 7 The people served the L ORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who survived Joshua, who had seen all the great work of the L ORD which He had done for Israel. 8 Then Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the L ORD, died at the age of one hundred and ten. 9 And they buried him in the territory of his inheritance in Timnath-heres, in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash. 10 All that generation also were gathered to their fathers; and there arose another generation after them who did not know the L ORD, nor yet the work which He had done for Israel. 11 Then the sons of Israel did evil in the sight of the L ORD and served the Baals, 12 and they forsook the L ORD, the God of their fathers, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods from among the gods of the peoples who were around them, and bowed themselves down to them; thus they provoked the L ORD to anger.

2 Chronicles 24 2 Joash did what was right in the sight of the L ORD all the days of Jehoiada the priest. 15 Now when Jehoiada reached a ripe old age he died; he was one hundred and thirty years old at his death. 16 They buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done well in Israel and to God and His house. 17 But after the death of Jehoiada the officials of Judah came and bowed down to the king, and the king listened to them. 18 They abandoned the house of the L ORD, the God of their fathers, and served the Asherim and the idols; so wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this their guilt.

F AITHFULNESS D EPENDENT UPON S OMEONE E LSE ?

1 Kings 15 5 because David did what was right in the sight of the L ORD, and had not turned aside from anything that He commanded him all the days of his life, except in the case of Uriah the Hittite. Contrast: Im faithful all the days of someone elses life vs. Im faithful all the days of my life

Contrast: Im faithful all the days of someone elses life vs. Im faithful all the days of my life Even when things are very difficult Job If a man dies, will he live again? All the days of my struggle I will wait Until my change comes.

Contrast: Im faithful all the days of someone elses life vs. Im faithful all the days of my life Psalm 27:4 One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord And to meditate in His temple.

When someones faithfulness is too dependent on others On a preacher On a preacher On a congregation On a congregation What should we do? Revelation 2:4-5 Revelation 2:4-5 Galatians 6:1 Galatians 6:1 Pauls care for the churches (2 Cor. 11:28) Pauls care for the churches (2 Cor. 11:28) And if indeed the whole congregation disappoints? And if indeed the whole congregation disappoints? Romans 3:3 What then? If some did not believe, their unbelief will not nullify the faithfulness of God, will it?

When someones faithfulness is too dependent on others On a spouse On a spouse On a parent On a parent And if indeed all disappoint: Elijah And if indeed all disappoint: Elijah 1 Kings He said, I have been very zealous for the L ORD, the God of hosts; for the sons of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars and killed Your prophets with the sword. And I alone am left; and they seek my life, to take it away. 1 Kings Yet I will leave 7,000 in Israel, all the knees that have not bowed to Baal and every mouth that has not kissed him.
