Uses Saber : 1.To know facts or information (name, time, age, number), especially with question words (que, donde, quien, etc.) 2.To know HOW to do something (+ infinitives) 3.To understand or be well-versed in academic disciplines: matemáticas, biología, el chino Conocer 1.To know or be familiar with a person, place, or thing. 2.To meet a person

To know... To know facts or information (name, time, age, number), especially with question words (que, donde, quien, etc.) 1. Él sabe mucho de la historia del mundo. He knows a lot about world history. 2. ¿Ustedes saben dónde está el restaurante? Do you know where the restaurant is?

To know... To know HOW to do something (+ infinitives) Saber + INF 1. Saben hablar español They know how to speak Spanish. 2. Sabemos jugar al fútbol. We know how to play soccer. *Note: there is no como (HOW to do something) like in English.

To know... To understand or be well-versed in academic disciplines: matemáticas, biología, el chino 1. Mi padre sabe tres idiomas. My father knows/speaks three languages. 2. Sé física. Soy profesor en la universidad. I understand physics. Im a college professor.

To know a person. 1.Patrico conoce a ustedes.** Kiko knows you all. ** personal a must be used here. Why? Personal a is used when a person(s) is the DO of a sentence!

To know NOUNS (i.e., to be acquainted with or be familiar with something). 1. Conozco Madrid I am familiar with Madrid. 2. Conocéis el restaurante. You are familiar with the restaurant. 3. Conocen la literatura española. They are familiar with Spanish literature.

To know or be familiar with a person, place, or thing. 1. ¿Conoces Freud?. ** Are you familiar with (the work of) Freud?. 2. Conozco a Obama. Es un hombre honrado. ** I know Obama. He is an honorable man. (I may, or may not know him personally) ** personal A· must be used here.

To meet a person 1. Conocí una persona super interesante. ** I met a really interesting person. 2. ¿Conocisteis al nuevo profesor? ** You met the profesor. ** personal A must be used here.

What is the difference between the 2 sets of sentences given? 1. Él sabe el nombre del restaurante Conoce el restaurante. 2. Sabemos mucho de la literatura española. Conocemos la literatura española.

In both cases, the 1 st sentence implies that the subject knows information about the restaurant or Spanish literature. The 2 nd sentence simply implies that the subject has been introduced or knows about the restaurant and Spanish literature only. The subject is not necessarily able to give you much information about them.

Translate to Spanish Do you know where the dog is? ¿Sabes dónde está el perro? Who knows Pepe? ¿Quién conoce a Pepe? Are you familiar with Chicago? ¿Conoces Chicago? Ronaldo knows how to shoot animals. Ronaldo sabe tirar animales.
