Puerto Rico Hotel & Tourism Association Clarisa Jiménez President & CEO September 10, 2010

Who Are We? Founded in 1950, PRHTA is a non-profit trade association composed of more than 580 member organizations and businesses. We are committed to helping our members achieve their business objectives while protecting the jobs of more than 65,000 people currently employed by the tourism and hospitality industries in Puerto Rico.

Why a hotel and tourism association? In such a dynamic environment, tourism-related companies need an organization that: – Represents – Protects – Promotes – Educates – Informs its members, to help them achieve their business objectives. This is our mission.

PRHTA Synergies The Puerto Rico Hotel & Tourism Association has six solid decades of direct collaboration and alliances with both private and public entities. On the marketing front, our strongest government partner is the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC), which supports some of our largest and most successful programs.

PRHTA Synergies PRHTA is also constantly involved on various marketing programs and projects with different municipalities throughout the island, helping to maximize benefits for all our members: hotels, restaurants, casinos, transportation providers, purveyors of goods and services and others.

Marketing Committee Meetings As an Association we have developed a joint government / private sector Marketing Committee that meets on a monthly basis to develop destination programs.

Small Inns Brochure The Small Inns brochure, is a joint venture between PRHTA and PRTC. The brochure is distributed in all the promotional activities that the Puerto Rico Tourism Company holds in the US and the Caribbean.

Small Inns Website This site includes photos, information and on-line reservation forms for PRHTA member hotels around the island that have 75 rooms or less.

Saborea Puerto Rico Saborea PR is a key culinary event developed by PRHTA and sponsored by PRTC, Rums of Puerto Rico and other entities. It has allowed us to position this landmark culinary event as one of the most important in the Caribbean, with local and international chefs, workshops, gastronomic surprises and entertainment for young and old. Since its launch in 2008, Saborea has allowed hundreds of thousands of attendees to enjoy Puerto Ricos vast gastronomic landscape.

Puerto Rico Zest Brochure & Website The Puerto Rico Zest program promotes member restaurants that choose to offer specially priced, three-course meals to patrons who pay with their preferred MasterCard. Today, there are more than 30 restaurants participating throughout the island, including Vieques and Culebra. This lets visitors enjoy some of Puerto Ricos best dishes and flavors at reduced prices. Puerto Rico Zest is a joint effort of the Puerto Rico Hotel & Tourism Associations restaurant and marketing committees, with the support of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company and sponsored by MasterCard.

Caribbean Travel & Life Supplements Through various supplements backed by PRTC, we increase the exposure of our destination and tourism niches, and thus the growth of our members.

Destination Weddings Supplement Once a year a special promotional feature in Destination Weddings promotes Puerto Rico as a premier wedding destination.

Business Partners Review This meeting is to discuss the progress of our wholesale partners with our destination and to develop better strategies to improve business for all. Based on the findings and conclusions reached during this pow-wow, the PRTC coordinates collaborative partnerships with carefully chosen wholesalers and tour operators.

Road Shows PRTC sponsors various national and international road shows throughout the year in which PRHTA plays a major role. In this way, Puerto Rico is promoted as a destination while PRHTA hotels, restaurants and businesses take center stage.

San Juan Fun Card Program Developed with the assistance of PRTC and the Municipality of San Juan, this card offers great discounts to cruise ship visitors at participating restaurants, stores and other establishments.

Thank you!
