Check list for reliable searches

1.Valid URL address Number of results In google, use the green one. NEVER USE GOOGLE. You can cut off at the 1st/2nd forward slash

2. A Title (not the URL) This would be the Title at the top of the section you are reading and getting information. If you were writing about Lou Palmer, the title here would be: “Legendary IMS Radio Network Voice Palmer dies at 75”

3. A homepage title That means, the whole main page that linked to it. If all else fails, write Homepage The Lou Palmer article comes from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Homepage.

4. Find an author This one was easy…it’s a good reference, and has the author’s name right at the top. Sometimes you have to look at the end, or click a link called “contacts” or “About the author” If you don’t find an author, look for an “organization” like a foundation, college institution or government agency.

5. Copyright Date Its usually at the bottom…sometimes it is just the year.

The access date The access date is easy You already know it It is the date you went there If you forgot which day you went there, go back, and then you can write today’s date. It is in a special form: day month year Ex. 19 January 2008

You may need more information to cite your reference…. But if you wrote the main 6 things down as you researched, it is easy to go back and find it to add any other information you may need.
