Extragalactic Discussion – early science Not big demand for small PI projects at start of early science Accept concept that commissioning is important and early science should take place only at appropriate time. Preferred concept of expert teams (+ observatory staff) proposing demonstration science for first call, with PR value and broad appeal. Long term visiting scientists would be useful, although should avoid interfering with commissioning. Now is time to plan demonstration science programs that can be done in early science modes Bigger projects may be easier that lots of little programs during commissioning But demo projects are not required to be large HST, Spitzer, Chandra are gone by 2011 – capitalize on early synergy
