Current Recommendations for Pregnant Women Women that are pregnant, and their partners, should avoid travel to areas with active Zika virus transmission Women that are pregnant that DO travel to an area with known Zika virus transmission, or have unprotected sex with a partner who traveled, should be tested whether or not they reported symptoms Testing following exposure to aid in timing of conception decisions is neither recommended nor available through the State Public Health Laboratory Infants born to mothers with evidence of Zika virus infection during pregnancy or who were not testes should be tested at birth All these infants should have a hearing screening and head ultrasound, even in the absence of obvious defects
