Due today HOMEWORK TASK: Using the old A2 Tudor textbook, create one diagram on religious reforms under Mary, and another on non-religious reforms under Mary pp.39-44 (religion reform) pp.44-46 (non-religious reform) Whilst I check your work, discuss with the person at the side of you how far Mary’s reign marks a period of change in relation to: Religion Secular issues Frans magazine x3 – mary persecution of protestants (counter productive?) Frans magazine – mary I reign more generally

Mary: Marriage and Wyatt Understand The reforms Mary made to government and religion Analyse The problems Mary faced in restoring Catholicism Evaluate Whether Mary deserved the title ‘Bloody Mary’ Key Words: Catholicism Heretics In what ways and how effectively was England governed during this period? How far did intellectual and religious ideas change and develop and with what effects?

Mary’s Government Below is a paragraph that suggests Mary’s government was inefficient. TASK: write a paragraph in the same format that undermines this argument, by suggesting Mary’s appointment of 50 councillors did not necessarily make her government ineffective. Mary’s government must be considered ineffective: it was inefficient and faction ridden. Evidence of this is clear, Mary appointed 50 councillors and consequently the most importance decision (her marriage to Phillip), was never discussed formally in the Council. This conveys inefficiency because such a large number of Councillors compromised the institutions ability to government on issues of central importance to England and it’s potential future. POINT EVIDENCE EXPLAIN Add a green pen activity here Understand The reforms Mary made to government and religion Analyse The problems Mary faced in restoring Catholicism Evaluate Whether Mary deserved the title ‘Bloody Mary’
