When did it take place? When did it take place? After the ending of WWI Started in 1920 Ended in 1929 for the most part Was the time period that began to introduce modern America. Drugs ad Alcohol was beginning to be used much more heavily as a recreational pass time.

Effect on the Economy? Effect on the Economy? Stock Market Crashed helping lead into great depression Many new inventions had come into existence A good paying job paid around $5 a day More people started living in towns rather than on farms Cities got more crowded and overall living expenses went up along with the increased average job pay Factories and warehouses began hiring many more people to begin mass producing product When the stock market crashed on October 24, 1929 causing people to rush to banks to withdraw all of their money, many people lost great amounts of money either to the banks or to the declining net worth of stocks Most money was spent on things like new roads, bridges, tourism, and real estate booms leading to higher land prices

What does “The lost Generation” mean? group of American realist writers came about during the time of WWI produced literature throughout the 1920s Realism focuses on the harsh realities of life They often wrote about the affects alcohol was beginning to have on society Began writing during WWI
