Bobbys sister Patty and her friend Ruby took charge of looking after Lynda. They happily agreed that Lynda should wear a sari and insisted that she should stay with them before the wedding so that they could dress her and prepare her hair. We met on the day at the Kandy Registry Office and were married. After the ceremony we all went back to the Hotel Suisse, where the Head Waiter, Bala, had organised a reception and buffet for us, even a cake. Word had got round the village of Katagastota and we were soon joined by bus loads of their friends and family. It was an amazing day. Lynda and I were married in Kandy (19/8/1996) It might seem strange to include wedding photos on our web-site but, as you will see, it was quite an experience and the highlight of our most exciting trip. After being friends and lovers for so many years, the time felt right and we decided to marry in Sri Lanka, in the town where I was born and where my parents had met. After a pre-wedding honeymoon in Hong Kong, we arrived in Kandy with 10 days to make the arrangements. Mohan Perera, one of our friends in Kandy, looked after the legal side, while the Goonewardenas, a Sinhalese family who had known my mother, eagerly jumped at the chance to organise a surprise wedding.
