Come and bring light to a people in darkness. Come set us free from the chains we have made. We are your people, the flock that you tend. Lord, open our eyes once again. GH #263 - Refrain

Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee, God of glory, Lord of love; Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee, Opening to the sun above. BH #464

Melt the clouds of sin and sadness; Drive the gloom of doubt away; Giver of immortal gladness, Fill us with the light of day.

All Thy works with joy surround Thee, Earth and heaven reflect Thy rays, Stars and angels sing around Thee, Center of unbroken praise.

Field and forest, vale and mountain, Flowery meadow, flashing sea, Chanting Bird and flowering fountain, Call us to rejoice in Thee.

Mortals, join the happy chorus Which the morning stars began; Love divine is reigning oer us, Joining all in heavens plan.

Ever singing, march we onward, Victors in the midst of strife, Joyful music leads us sunward In the triumph song of life.

Please Be Seated

O God, gladly we live and move and have our being in you. Yet always in the midst of this creation-glory, we see sins shadow and feel deaths darkness:

around us in the earth, sea and sky, the abuse of matter; beside us in the broken, the hungry and the poor, the betrayal of one another; and often, deep within us, a striving against your Spirit.

O Trinity of love, forgive us that we may forgive one another, heal us that we may be people of healing, and renew us that we also may be makers of peace.

(silent confession) Amen.

Leader: Remember the words of the prophet Jeremiah when he wrote: Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when… I will put my law within them, and I will write it upon their hearts;

Leader: and I will be their God, and they shall be my people… for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

People: Therein lies our assurance. Thanks be to God!

Leader: that I may see the prosperity of your elect and be glad with the gladness of your people, that I may glory with your inheritance. People: We have sinned as our ancestors did; we have done wrong and dealt wickedly.

Leader: Save us, O Lord our God, and gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise.

Leader: Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting and to everlasting; and let all the people say, People: Amen! Hallelujah!

Come to the feast of heaven and earth! Come to the table of plenty! God will provide for all that we need, here at the table of plenty. GH #247

O come and sit at my table where saints and sinners are friends. I wait to welcome the lost and lonely to share the cup of my love.

Come to the feast of heaven and earth! Come to the table of plenty! God will provide for all that we need, here at the table of plenty.

O come and eat without money; come to drink without price. My feast of gladness will feed your spirit with faith and fullness of life.

Come to the feast of heaven and earth! Come to the table of plenty! God will provide for all that we need, here at the table of plenty.

My bread will ever sustain you through days of sorrow and woe. My wine will flow like a sea of gladness to flood the depths of your soul.

Come to the feast of heaven and earth! Come to the table of plenty! God will provide for all that we need, here at the table of plenty.

Your fields will flower in fullness; your homes will flourish in peace. For I, the giver of home and harvest, will send my rain on the soil.

The Gospel Matthew 22: 1-14

… and he said to him, Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding robe? And he was speechless. Matthew 22:12

We believe in Jesus Christ, son of the one God, maker and sustainer of earth, sea and sky. Born of Marys womb, faithful to the God of Abraham and Sarah, Jesus healed the sick, served the poor, and proclaimed heaven and earth.

Condemned by the religious, crucified by the state, he died but transformed even death and rose to life everlasting. He blessed the disciples with his holy spirit and sent them forth, east and west, north and south.

We commit ourselves to Jesus, to one another as brothers and sisters and to his mission in the world in the grace of the holy spirit. Amen.

We give thanks to the Lord!

Give thanks with a grateful heart, give thanks to the Holy One; give thanks because hes given Jesus Christ, his Son. (sing twice) GH #216

And now let the weak say, We are strong! Let the poor say, We are rich because of what the Lord has done for us! (sing twice)

Give thanks.

Prayer Requests

Let us pray to the Lord!

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.
