What Is Fellowship? Translated from the Greek word koinonia which is defined as “association, communion, joint participation” (Thayer). “In the New Testament, fellowship has a distinctly spiritual meaning” (Nelson’s Bible Dictionary). It is a joint participation with other Christians in activities related to being a Christian.

Fellowship With God Our first priority as Christians must be our personal fellowship with God (1 John 1:5-7). Our fellowship with God is essential to our salvation. Our fellowship with God is conditional.

Fellowship With God’s People 1 John 1 “that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ” (v. 3) “we have fellowship with one another” (v. 7) God man man
