Psalm 95

“O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.”

What does the psalmist invite us to do in Psalm 95:1-2? Read Psalm 98:1-2. God has given us a new song to sing. Why do we have this new song? What has God made known and revealed? Read Psalm 40:3. What song are we to sing to the Lord? Where do we get this song and what will be the result of our singing it? Is your life filled with praise to God for all He has done? If it is, others will want to know what the source of your joy is. Say Psalm 40:3, inserting your own name.

“For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods,” El (Chief) Baal (El’s son) Asherah (El’s wife; Baal’s mistress) High place in Petra

Read 1 Cor. 8:4-6. What do verses 4 and 6 say about God? What does Psalm 115:3-7 tell us about idols? Read 1 Cor. 10:19-20. Who are people worshipping when they offer sacrifices to idols? According to James 2:19, what do the demons know about God? How do they react? Read Phil. 2:5-11 Where has God placed Jesus Christ? Who will bow before Jesus?

“In whose hand are the depths of the earth;”

“The peaks of the mountains are His also.” Mount Everest

“The sea is His, for it was He who made it;”

“And His hands formed the dry land.” Norway

“Come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.”

“For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand.”

What does Psalm 95:7 say about us? Read all of Psalm 23. List the benefits of the Lord being our Shepherd. Read John 10:10-11. Jesus is speaking in these verses. Who does He say He is? What does He say He has come to do and give us?

“Today, if you would hear His voice, do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, as in the day of Massah in the wilderness; when your fathers tested Me,” How does Psalm 78:15-16 describe the water God provided for these millions of people and their livestock?

Read about this incident in Exodus 17:1-7 Read about this incident in Exodus 17:1-7. How did these people test God? Was this the only time they did this (Num. 14:22)?  Exodus 14:9-12  Exodus 15:22-24  Exodus 16:1-3  Exodus 16:19-20  Exodus 16:27-30  Exodus 32:1-8  Numbers 11:1-3  Numbers 11:4-6  Numbers 13:31-14:3 As you read these passages, what verb appears again and again? What further insight does Psalm 95:10 and Phil. 2:14-15 give us about this sin?

“They tried Me, though they had seen My work.”

What works had they seen God do? Exodus 7:14-25 Exodus 7:26-8:11 Exodus 8:12-15 Exodus 8:16-28 Exodus 9:1-7 Exodus 9:8-12 Exodus 9:13-35 Exodus 10:1-20 Exodus 10:21-29 Exodus 11:1-12:36

“For forty years I loathed that generation, And said they are a people who err in their heart, and they do not know My ways. Therefore I swore in My anger, truly they shall not enter into My rest.” Negev Dessert
