Appointment Scheduling Walk In Appointments You can quickly and easily schedule a walk-in appointment in Epic using the Schedule Walk In window. This can be selected from either the Department Appointments Report (DAR) or the patient’s appointment desk screen.

Appointment Scheduling Walk In Appointments When the Walk In button is selected, the Walk In window will appear. You may notice it looks exactly like the Quick Appointment window. This window allows you to quickly specify a provider, visit type, time, length, and appointment notes and then immediately schedule that appointment for the current date.

Appointment Scheduling Walk In Appointments “Jump to Full Entry” Button If you decide to jump into full Appointment Entry rather than scheduling a Walk In Appointment, click the “Jump to Full Entry” button next to the Patient Options menu. This opens the Appointment Entry activity and places you on the Make Appointment form. Any information you entered on the Previous form fills in automatically.

Appointment Scheduling Walk In Appointments Once the Provider is selected , any relevant appointment warnings will appear . The provider’s schedule will then display. If the “Skip full day” option is the default at your practice, the schedule will reflect the next day the provider has appointments available.

Appointment Scheduling Walk In Appointments Double click the appointment time, and type in the appointment notes in the Appointment Notes field located at the bottom of the screen. Click the “Schedule” button to advance to the next screen.

Appointment Scheduling Walk In Appointments As the Check in screen opens, if there are any registration warnings/errors, you will see the pop up messages and you will be jumped to Registration. From the Check In window you can quickly update any questions and view the patient’s co-pay, account and coverage information. If this is a new patient, you will have to access the patient’s Registration record to create an account and coverage. Note: You must have completed Epic Registration classroom training to have access to Registration functions.

Appointment Scheduling Walk In Appointments Collect the co-pay if due, and click Accept to complete the Walk In Appointment process.
