Welcome to St. Mark Athletics All school teams participate in Dallas Parochial League website address www.dallasparochialleague.com

Philosophy and Goals Develop athletic talents while maintaining Christian principles and good sportsmanship at the amateur level. Emphasis is on building teamwork, confidence, execution, respect, and discipline. Winning and losing kept in the proper perspective. Competition is about learning how to lose as well as how to win while having fun. Refer to the Athletic Policy and Procedure Manual in Athletic Handbook and Parent/Student Handbook

Dallas Parochial League St. Mark is a participating member of the DPL The DPL sets policies and procedures with the Athletic Directors from all participating schools. Games and tournaments are scheduled with the needs of all 31 schools in mind. SPORT REGISTRATION Registration is completed online. You will be notified when it is time to register. Weekly Bulletin Athletic Director Email Payment is accepted online or personal check. Most sports have a uniform deposit see page 5 in Athletics Handbook. If a uniform is not returned by the posted due date and/or in poor condition a replacement fee will be charged. Registration forms are located on the school website: www.stmcs.net under Athletics.

Selection of Coaches Go to school Athletics webpage under “Coaching Information” for details All coaches must be Safe Environment Trained Annual renewal Coaches Must Attend “Play Like A Champion” Workshop Coaches must read, sign, and submit a Coaching Code of Conduct Agreement to the school front desk. It is strongly advised Coaches are CPR certified Courses are provided by the school nurse. Indicate sport interest on online form. Coaching selections are on a year-to-year basis. Coaches must bide by Athletics Handbook Policies Refer to the Athletic Handbook and Parent/Student Handbook for Athletic Policies.

Responsibilities of Coaches Refer to Athletics Handbook for complete details. Always set a good example. Teach Christian values: respect, discipline, honesty, a good work ethic. Discipline student athletes who display unsportsmanlike conduct using guidelines established by the Athletic Director. Be present prior to the scheduled practice start time in order to meet the athletes upon their arrival. Students may not enter a practice facility without two Safe Environment trained adults present. Remain with the athletes until each has been released to their parent/guardian.

Team Selections Grade 5: Evaluated by an outside coaching source. Teams are divided equally by ability. The emphasis is on participation and development Grades 6-8: Evaluated by an outside coaching source. Teams are divided by ability. The number of teams per grade depends on registration. Players unable to attend tryouts will be placed by the Athletic Director. Responsibilities of Athletes Review Athletic Handbook Policies located on Athletic Document webpage of school website. Students must maintain a 76% or above in all academic and conduct areas. Refer to Athletic Handbook for details. Yearly physical examination forms must be submitted to the school Athletic Director immediately following registration. Sportsmanship is paramount. Shake opponents and officials hands before and after games, we pray with opponents before a game. Inappropriate behavior will result in suspension from future athletic contests. Respect and take care of equipment and team facilities.
