The Resurrection of Jesus Christ: “A Simple Question”

In an increasingly-complicated world, we secretly long for simplicity. Out of the endless options & choices that face us daily; we long for clarity, guidance, and purpose.

Some “Simple Questions” with Huge Consequences: Do you love me? Will you marry me? Would you like to work here?

The Easter Story raises an age-old question: “Do I believe that the Resurrection of the dead is even possible?”

and the Essenes, they were among the Jewish leaders. Sadducees Along with the Pharisees and the Essenes, they were among the Jewish leaders. * Rejected the Resurrection of the Dead

he raised someone from the dead. During his ministry, Jesus demonstrated his power through many signs and miracles; including three recorded incidents where he raised someone from the dead.

Luke 7: 11-17 Jesus raises a widow’s only son at Nain Mark 5: 21-43 Luke 8: 40-56 Jesus raises the young daughter of Jairus, a synagogue leader

When the Lord saw her, his heart went out Luke 7:13 When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t cry.” Mark 5:36 Jesus told [Jairus], “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”

John 11: 21-27 When confronted with the death of his friend Lazarus, Jesus comforts his sister Martha and asks her a “simple question.”

will live, even though he dies; John 11: 25-26 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; 26 and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

John 11:27 “Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.”

John 11: 39-40 39 “Take away the stone,” he said. “But, Lord,” said Martha, the sister of the dead man, “by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.” 40 Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?”

Believe (“pisteuo”): “To put one’s faith or trust in, with an implication that actions based on that trust will follow”

Luke 24: 9 & 11 9 “When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others… 11 But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense.”

Jesus affirms the faith of all who believe John 20: 24-29 Thomas refuses to believe Jesus has risen from the dead without physical proof. Jesus affirms the faith of all who believe in him without proof.
