Luke 14:16-20 “Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many: [17] And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready. [18] And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused. [19] And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused. [20] And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.”
Excuses Some people give all kinds of excuses for not becoming a Christian. Others give all kinds of excuses for being unfaithful? What if we made some of these same excuses for why we do not wash or take a bath? You might ask, “Why would anyone not want to take a bath?” Good question!
I was forced to wash as a child. Pro. 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Eph. 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
People who wash are hypocrites. They get dirty, too. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Mat. 25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Why wash when one can just change tubs? Hosea 6:8-9 Gilead is a city of them that work iniquity, and is polluted with blood. [9] And as troops of robbers wait for a man, so the company of priests murder in the way by consent: for they commit lewdness.

My daddy is dirty so I am going to be dirty! Matthew 10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
There are so many kinds of soap, I cannot decide what is right. 1 Thes. 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Mat. 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
I still wash at Christmas and Easter! Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Washing becomes boring, the same old routine. John 4:23-24 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. [24] God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Soap makers are only interested in your money. Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
People who wash think they are the only ones who are clean. 1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
