PASS ~To become a Volunteer: ~PASS stands for Providing Academic and Self-Esteem Support ~The PASS Volunteer Program seeks to lower the dropout rate by involving community and parent volunteers with students at every grade level. ~To become a Volunteer: You must be a junior or senior in high school or older Attend a brief training You will be assigned your student to meet with once a week to play games, do homework, talk to, etc.

Department of Veterans Affair (VA) ~Located in Martinsburg, WV at 510 Butler Avenue, Martinsburg ~Contact information: 304-263-0811 or www.martinsburg.va.gov ~Beginning in May, they will begin advertising about a Youth Volunteer Program they will be starting. ~You will have the opportunity to talk with Veterans about their stories. ~Some of these Vets will be so appreciative of you coming in there and spending your time with them, because some of these Vets don’t have family to talk to.

Humane Society ~We have a local Humane Society right here in Berkeley County, located at 554 Charles Town Road Martinsburg, WV 25405 ~Contact Information: 304-267-8389 or http://berkeley.wvhumane.com/ ~Volunteer Opportunities: 1. hang-up and take down/fold & put away laundry (weather permitting) 2. yard duty (pooper scooper/trash duty) 3. restock supply area and any other supplies 4. clean windows & glass doors 5. keep food and water bowls full in cat room/dog kennels 6. keep litter pans clean/dog kennels clean 7. brush/bathe dog/puppies /kittens as needed 8. clean outside kennels 9. wash dog/cat dishes and litter pans 10. wipe walls/kennel shine stainless steel dog kennels 11. clean counter tops/organize and clean cabinets

These adults learn life and social skills. ~Volunteer Opportunities: Play games with clients Make Crafts with clients Talk with clients Help with social interaction

Clary Grove (Heartland)- 304-263-8921 3.Country Side Assisted Living- 304-596-6227 ~You are able to spend time with these individuals and really get to know them and listen to their stories. Just your presence and time will mean a lot to them because they might not have anyone to come visit them. ~Volunteer Opportunities: Finding a local nursing home and going to visit and talk Bringing donations Making cards and crafts with them
