Incidental finding of colonic varices Brian W. Meeker, DO, FAAFP Today’s Case Incidental finding of colonic varices Brian W. Meeker, DO, FAAFP
65 year old female new to my practice. Long-term warfarin because of a history of deep vein thrombosis. She has an inferior vena cava filter for the same thing. Prior left nephrectomy due to chronic pyelonephritis. She received a letter from the colon call back registry where she used to live Because of a history of adenomatous colon polyps and she asked me to do the Scope rather than go back.
Does this warrant a work-up for portal hypertension? Being anticoagulated, is she at risk to spontaneously bleed? Is any intervention required?
