Common nouns name any person, place, thing, or idea, and are not capitalized. Proper nouns name specific people, places, things, or ideas, and are capitalized. Abstract nouns name what you cannot feel, see, hear, taste, or smell. Concrete nouns name what you can feel, see, hear, taste, or smell. Singular nouns name one person, place, thing, or idea. Plural nouns name more than one person, place, thing, or idea. Possessive nouns name ownership.
