Word Wall Diaspora People dispersed by whatever cause to more than one location OR People settled far from their ancestral homelands

Castigate (kas’ ti gĀt) To criticize or punish severely (v.) Joseph’s biology teacher castigated him severely for chewing gum during the lab portion of class.

Gauche (gŌsh) Lacking social graces; tactless (adj.) While it is a common occurrence in classes which meet just after lunch, belching aloud is truly a gauche habit.

Ignominy (ig’ nĕ min Ē) Public shame, disgrace or dishonor (n.) The mayor fell from respect and acclaim to ignominy in a week when a reporter discovered her cocaine habit .

Motley (mot’ lĒ) Made up of dissimilar parts; being of many colors (adj.) My calico cat is a motley specimen; her tail is too long, her ears are too small and her fur has every possible color and pattern known in the feline world.
