Learning Goal and Bell Ringer Tuesday 10/16 (p41) Benchmark SC.912.L.17.6: Compare and contrast the relationships among organisms, including predation, parasitism, competition, commensalism, and mutualism. SC.912.L.17.9: Use a food web to identify and distinguish producers, consumers, and decomposers. Explain the pathway of energy transfer through trophic levels and the reduction of available energy at successive trophic levels. Learning Goal I will be able to analyze the “Sea-Otter” case study. Bell Ringer What does ecology mean to you? Learning Goal Monday Tuesday Friday Thursday PL Plan

After Pretest “Sea-Otter” on page 42 and answer the following (can be found with article). In your own words, explain the effect of sea otters on kelp forests, and what Estes’s findings suggest about managing predator-pray relationships in local environments. Think about how humans interact with other species and how these interactions affect the whole ecosystem. What examples can you think of that demonstrate positive or negative interactions with other species? I wrote a rough draft when is the final draft due?!?!  10/23

Chemosynthesis is the use of chemicals instead of light to produce glucose. 6CO2 + 6H2O+ 3H2S à C6H12O6  + 3H2SO4. Bees pollinate the flower. The pollen is food for the bees. Mutualism.
