Republican Party of Texas An analysis of the 2009-2010 Election Cycle

2009-2010 Accomplishments Swept all statewide offices for the 8th consecutive election (1996 - 2010) Voted for a Republican Governor for the 5th consecutive election (1994 - 2010) Gained three seats in Congress. Gained 25 seats in the Texas House. Gained 25 Court of Appeals / District Judge / District Attorney seats. Gained 270 local county offices. The three congressional gains are: CD-17 (Bill Flores defeated Chet Edwards) CD-23 (Quico Canseco defeated Ciro Rodriguez) CD-27 (Blake Farenthold defeated Solomon Ortiz)

Overall, the Republican Party of Texas picked up 324 seats statewide. Republican Gains Overall, the Republican Party of Texas picked up 324 seats statewide. In 1996, Republicans gained 284 seats across all levels of government in Texas.

Total Republicans Elected 1992: Republicans brought their total to 911 seats. 1994: Republicans brought their total to 1,059 seats. 1996: Republicans brought their total to 1,343 seats. 1998: Republicans brought their total to 1,527 seats. 2000: Republicans brought their total to 1,709 seats. 2002: Republicans brought their total to 1,966 seats. 2004: Republicans brought their total to 2,166 seats. 2006: Republicans brought their total to 2,353 seats. 2008: Republicans brought their total to 2,395 seats. 2010: Republicans brought their total to 2,719 seats.
