Why Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia joined confederation By: Matthew and Parker

Saskatchewan Historic information Saskatchewan joined confederation September 1, 1905 along with Alberta The land that forms Saskatchewan was originally the North West Territories Many different European cultures moved to Saskatchewan to make villages and live with the French Canadians Interesting info Saskatchewan was the 7th province to join confederation As soon as Saskatchewan became a province Regina was named capital Just as Saskatchewan was joining confederation they started to grow and plant crops

Alberta Historical information In 1875 the Mounties set up forts in the two places that we call Calgary and Edmonton Not many Europeans went to Alberta so Alberta's population was mostly Aboriginals Near the end of the 19th century people started to grow crops in the open prairie's Interesting info Alberta was the 8th province to join confederation As soon as Alberta became a province Edmonton was named capital Alberta joined confederation the exact same day as Saskatchewan

British Columbia Historical information BC joined confederation on July 20, 1871 In 1867 British Columbians debated about joining the new country as entering confederation would take on debt to pay for building roads and railroads remote to the rest of Canada that mail going east had an American stamp on it and would go through San Francisco Interesting info BC became the sixth province of Canada In 1867 British Columbians debated about Victoria was named capital before BC joined confederation

Reactions and Results at the time Saskatchewan By making a new province, taxes were able to be collected for schools and roads. Alberta By joining confederation Alberta becomes part of a country and gains all the benefits of being part of a country. British Columbia Canada also got a railway from Montreal to the pacific coast.

All three By joining Canada the provinces were able to be apart of the Canadian government By the provinces joining, taxes were able to be collected.
