RD #2 Turn In If you have it to turn in now, please staple in this order (bottom-top): RD#1 RD#2 Gray Rubric “Open Box Side” face up. Write your name on the rubric Turn in to the turn in box and do a happy dance. You can forget about your paper for a bit!  (If you don’t have your paper to submit yet, you’ll follow this same stacking and stapling when you do turn it in. I’ll be in the 100 lab after school, or you can submit it to my teacher mailbox by the end of the day!)

Othello Extra Credit Options You have two choices for Othello extra credit. You can only pick one of the extra credit options, for a possible 25 points extra credit. The amount of extra credit you earn is dependent on the quality of the work turned in. Pick and memorize at least twenty lines of the play. Pick lines which are significant to you for some reason - maybe it's one of Iago's soliloquies; maybe it's the musings of Othello. It doesn't matter what lines you memorize as long as they are legitimately important to the overall understanding of the play and you can justify your choice in writing. Be prepared to perform it for Mrs. Tomlinson by March 29th. Also turn in a one-page, double spaced analysis of why you selected this text to memorize and what you believe is its importance to the play. Possible extra extra credit points for performing it in front of the class (arrange this ahead of time to make sure we have time in our schedule).  

Extra Credit Option #2 Compare and contrast two scenes of the play (text version) with the same two scenes of the Tim Blake Nelson version of the movie, O (2001) (this is the one starring Josh Harnett, Julia Stiles and Mekhi Phifer). There are other films out there that are based on Othello, and you’re welcome to do some research on those versions if you prefer. This means you will have to rent a copy of the movie and get access to the text of the play on-line. Compare and contrast means you have to address how the scenes are the same AND how they are different. This will be at least two pages, double spaced in length to be of an acceptable quality. This movie is rated R, so if that is a problem you will want to complete the other extra credit option.
