YOW Shuttle Project The 3rd Annual Ottawa AV Summit April 4th, 2018 Mark Laroche, President & Chief Executive Officer Ottawa International Airport Authority

Shuttle Concept 4 – 8 passenger capacity Climate controlled Fully accessible to serve travellers with disabilities Winter capabilities Integrated with a shelter call system and mobile applications Memory recall to enable departing passenger’s information to be stored for return to their vehicle location upon arrival Overhead, in-lot charging capability

Route Map

Main Components Connected, driverless, all-weather vehicle with intelligent opportunity charging technology Integrated smart platform complementary to the airport’s parking Design, development, production and commercialization delivered by a world-class multidisciplinary team Canadian project from the designer to final user Enhanced passenger service and expanded accessibility for the elderly, mobility challenged and those travelling with children or excessive luggage “Living Reference Design Lab” to showcase and promote the key partners, end product and service

Collaborative Benefits Live-test environment Demonstration and showcasing opportunities Enhanced service and public awareness Funding and collaboration YOW supporting in a tangible manner the NRC economic development YOW mitigating and considering new opportunities that AV will have by disrupting the current model used by the air traveller for the portion of travel between home/business and the airport terminal YOW becoming a potential anchor client for AV as it considers new opportunities

Airport Contributions Provide secure access to a test bed (P4 Parking facility) for R&D, testing, validation and showcasing of the technology with cooperation of airport passengers. Controlled circuit allowing a complete deployment of the technology Living lab concept where the preliminary tests will contribute to the necessary adjustments for the end user The airport is prepared to coordinate and implement all necessary infrastructure adjustments required to accommodate the project. Sidewalk redevelopment, widening and paving Shelter implementation and integration with charging networks (civil aspect) Office space, control centre and location for maintenance/servicing of shuttles The airport is offering to showcase the product, the service and ultimately the technology to the roughly 5M passengers that travel annually. In-terminal showcase location Participate and contribute to PR events and promotion of the ongoing activities Host site visits for other airports, clients or potential partners

Funding Opportunities Program to Advance Connectivity and Automation in the Transportation System (ACATS) supports research, studies and technology evaluations, the development of codes, standards and guidance materials and capacity-building and knowledge-sharing activities $500,000 available Ontario Centres of Excellence – Autonomous Vehicle Innovation Network (AVIN) The AV R&D Partnership fund will support these projects with up to $1,000,000 over a maximum of 24 months. Additional funding opportunities will be sought out and will become available to the various project stakeholders

Next Steps Project Management Team identified by YOW and Invest Ottawa Next month will be reaching out to several interested parties to formalise partnerships Secure financing for project 18-24 months to have a AV Shuttle (level 3) operational at YOW Consider future opportunities for ground transportation portion of the air traveller’s journey
