Appositives English Bellwork

English Bellwork- Monday, October 2 1. An appositive is a phrase that follows a noun or pronoun, and that identifies or adds details to the sentence. 2. Why are appositive phrases good to use? 3. Write an example sentence with an appositive phrase. You could say: Washington was a great statesman. Our first president was a great statesman. Or, you could use an appositive phrase: Washington, our first president, was a great statesman. Our first president, Washington, was a great statesman.
