Connector: Homelearning Review You should have read and annotated ‘The Werewolf’ story. You need your model essay in front of you with each Assessment Objective highlighted. Discuss with the person next to you 3-5 things you learned from the model essay What band/grade you gave it and why

LO: You will analyse and explore ‘The Werewolf’, particularly paying attention to different ways of reading the text through criticism. Explanation: Will be able to understand and explain the significance of more than one reading of the text with use of evidence. Analysis: Will be able to analysis how the texts can be interpreted in 3 different ways using well-chosen evidence. Evaluation: Will be able to use extended critical material to offer additional interpretations of the story and evaluate their validity.

Entry Task Annotate and analyse the images around the room. Demonstrate previous learning and critical reading. Use the questions to prompt your ideas they become increasingly challenging!

Group Work Task 2: Critical Understanding You have now been given the rest of the critical reading associated to your original statement. Read as a group Add annotation to your understanding Begin to analyse and evaluate the tale using the prompt questions. Task 3: Written Work As a group you will now choose your question to write one critical paragraph on. 1) What is the purpose behind Carter’s use of metamorphosis in ‘The Werewolf’? 2) How does Carter portray the role of the ‘Independent Woman’ in ‘The Werewolf’ and what is its significance? 3) How is the setting of ‘The Werewolf’ significant to the tale as a whole? Task 1: Independent Work: You have been given one critical statement. Use this to prompt your analysis of ‘The Werewolf’ independently. Analyse the language Relate to the Gothic Relate to the critical statement 15 minutes 10 minutes

Seminar You will now form two small seminar groups: Arminder, Shiven and Devika Sarayha, Cybil, Mehak and Suweyda You will now teach the rest of your group about your expert area including what you found from your critical reading. Outcomes: Detailed understanding of all three areas of analysis Detailed annotations in your books Explorative discussion regarding your area of analysis.
