Children who read everyday, not only read well and understand what they have read, they can achieve and become more confident in many other areas of the curriculum. Children who can read well are far more likely to achieve and do well later in life. Families, please encourage your child to read home/school reading book each day and support this reading by commenting in their reading record.. Thank you for your continued support. We hit our goal!! Please help us to keep this up and lets aim for 98% next time! We have now received a new delivery of school sweatshirts. These are from a new supplier and we are trialling a different blend of materials. These will be priced at £7.95 each for all sizes except Small Adult which is £8.95. How can you Help? Could you give up some of your time and volunteer to: Listen to children read Help out in a class Bake or cook with the children Or do you have another skill you could share with us?

Homework Reminder Don’t forget your child will have homework everyday, please help us to help them reach their highest potential by making sure they so their homework. Thank you for your support Sports Thanks to all parents for your continued support at our football matches. The teams are making great progress, keep up the winning streak! Family Learning We had a great turn out for our reading workshop this Tuesday, 18 parents attended. Please look out for our next Family Learning session in March. Dates for your Diary: 26th February – School re-opens 1st March 2018 – World book day please feel free to dress up as a character from your favourite book 12th March – World Maths Day 15th March – Y2 visit to National Emergency Museum 19th March – Sport Relief Week 29th March Teacher Training Day – School closes for Easter 9th April – School re-opens 3rd May – Teacher Training Day school is closed 7th May – Bank Holiday 14-17th May – SATS 25th May – Non Uniform Day School Closed for Half Term 11th June – School re-opens 9/10th July – Parents Evening 27th July – Non Uniform Day School closes for the Summer On Thursday 1st March we will be celebrating World Book Day.   Each class will be learning about a specific author for the day and reading books by that author. They will also be doing drama linked to a specific book and completing a book review. In the afternoon the teachers will read a story to a different class. This year the children can dress up as any character in a book, if they wish. Authors that each class are focusing on are: Reception – Eric Carle Year 1 – Michael Rosen Year 2 – Julia Donaldson Year 3 – Roald Dahl Year 4 – Allan Ahlberg Year 5 – David Walliams Year 6 – Michael Morpurgo Each child will be receiving a book token that they can redeem for a book at many participating stores. This is a gift from booksellers and publishers and can be swapped for one of TEN exclusive World Book Day £1 books OR used to get £1 off any full-price book costing £2.99 or more.
