Our Strategic Roadmap Mission Statement (Our Purpose) MASBO is committed to advancing the knowledge and abilities of school business professionals and providing a voice and forum for the profession. Governance Board of Directors Assumptions of Trust, Trustworthiness, Competence of Self and Others Expectations of Interdependence and Transparency Attend, be prepared and participate at all Board and MASBO meetings; Attend, be prepared and participate at ASBO meetings; Advance the mission of MASBO as liaisons to other organizations; Advance the mission and vision of MASBO rather than to advance self; Engage others at Board meetings and General Membership meetings and gatherings in a respectful and welcoming manner; Hold themselves and other members accountable for completion of assignments with quality and timeliness; Know MASBO policies and supporting procedures

Governance Executive Committee To set agendas for all meetings of the MASBO board, in collaboration with the Executive Director To advise the Executive Director, as needed, in making decisions and judgments on behalf of MASBO To make recommendations to the MASBO Board To carry out the annual evaluation of the Executive Director

Management Executive Director To be the primary contact for questions and concerns regarding the Association. To be the "public face" and liaison between the MASBO Board and the membership, other associations, and government agencies , legislators and the media. To look for new opportunities to maintain and improve the professional image of MASBO. To plan and envision with the Board of Directors To represent MASBO along with the officers to ASBO and at ASBO functions. To maintain affiliations and relationships with other Minnesota professional education associations and coordinate representatives from MASBO; (MASA, MSBA, MAPT, MASMS, MSFSA, and others). To carry out the work of the Board and perform other duties as assigned. To assure the finances of MASBO to include yearly budget, as well as to provide the Board of Directors with quarterly and year-end financial reports. To be a liaison with association members at the strategic / relational level to maintain value and service to the association To assign MASBO members to mentors as requested. To coordinate the work of the resource committees including the development of an annual work plan and planning and implementing supplementary meetings

Management Director of Operations and Contracted Services To manage cash flow, record receipts and disbursements To prepare records for yearly audit and tax return. To maintain investment accounts and insurance coverage for association To collect dues for membership and meeting/workshop fees. To plan, coordinate and implement Association meetings. To plan, coordinate and implement the Spring conference. To grow the MASBO membership by providing membership information, service and continuity and to follow up personally with any non-renewals. To coordinate the publication of the MASBO newsletter. To maintain membership database and meeting attendance for each member. To be a liaison with association members at the conference / tactical level to maintain value and service to the association To maintain the Association’s website and to keep all information current on the website To record and maintain the minutes of Board meetings To maintain the MASBO director handbook To perform other duties as assigned

Communications and Engagement Committee Mission Statement The mission of the Communications and Engagement Committee is to increase communications to and among members as well as provide up to date information and resources about our association. We will strive to engage members and potential members through personal and professional growth opportunities designed to increase members’ knowledge and understanding of school business. Scope of Committee Program development Membership recruitment Communication skills for membership Public image of MASBO Submit articles for publication in the MASBO Newsletter focusing on professional development and certification opportunities. Provide input to program director on topics and speakers for Fall Conference, Winter Workshop and Spring Conference. Suggestions should be submitted 8 weeks prior to meeting date. Communicate information about related links, material, and organizations offering opportunities for professional development by posting on the Communications and Engagement web page. Establish and communicate committee meeting schedule. Utilize opportunities to meet in conjunction with the Fall, Winter and Spring Conferences, via conference calls and through the Committees Chat Room.

Membership Committee Mission Statement: The mission statement of the Membership Committee is to grow and engage MASBO and ASBO membership throughout our great State of Minnesota. Scope of Committee Contact districts that do not have members in MASBO Provide membership information and follow up with a phone call Work with superintendent’s association, MASA, to garner their support for the importance of having the business office maintain membership in MASBO. Promote ASBO membership within the MASBO membership group Have a presence in the MASBO newsletter promoting the value of membership, e.g. new member profile, testimonials, etc. Promote mentorship program to new members Call dropped members to determine reason for not continuing membership

Legislative Committee Mission Statement: The mission of the Legislative Committee is to promote the adoption of legislation that will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of school district fiscal practices and operations. To accomplish this mission, the Legislative Committee will develop MASBO's legislative agenda for ratification by the membership, communicate with policy makers and members on matters relating to education funding and fiscal management, represent MASBO on legislative matters as appropriate, and conduct an annual legislative conference. Scope of Committee Develop the priority legislative issues for the organization. Identify the issues having the greatest impact state-wide. Conduct the legislative workshops and educational sessions as needed. Respond to legislative inquiries/issues as directed by the Board. Work with legislative strategist Share information on emerging issues during the legislative session with membership. Develop relationships and share platform with legislative leadership. Submit articles for publication in the MASBO Newsletter on legislative topics. Assemble the legislative platform. Provide draft to membership via website one month prior to Fall Meeting. Present platform at the Fall Business Meeting. Distribute to legislative representatives. Provide input to program director on topics and speakers for Winter Workshop and Spring Conference. Suggestions should be submitted 8 weeks prior to meeting date. Provide topic, speakers and moderators for the Legislative Conference. Deadline for submission is 6 weeks prior to conference date. Use the Legislative Committee web page as a resource tool for MASBO members by posting news, information, and links to legislation, publications, and related web sites pertaining to legislative activities and issues. Establish and communicate committee meeting schedule. Utilize opportunities to meet in conjunction with the Fall, Winter and Spring Conferences, via conference calls and through the Committees Chat Room.

School Finance Committee Mission Statement: To provide a resource network and development opportunities for budgeting and accounting. Scope of Committee Recommend accounting and budgeting practices. Spearhead recommendations for financial models and day-to-day operations. Develop samples/templates of financial presentations. Submit articles for publication in the MASBO Newsletter on topics related to school finance. Provide input to program director on topics and speakers for Fall Conference, Winter Workshop and Spring Conference. Suggestions should be submitted 8 weeks prior to meeting date. Provide topic, speakers and moderators for the Tax Levy Workshop. Deadline for submission is 6 weeks prior to workshop date. Communicate information about related links, news, material, and professional development opportunities pertaining to budgeting, accounting, and other school finance related issues by posting on the School Finance web page. Establish and communicate committee meeting schedule. Utilize opportunities to meet in conjunction with the Fall, Winter and Spring Conferences, via conference calls and through the Committees Chat Room.
