Format of today Overview Elementary SACC process - MYP room Secondary SACC process – Lab Questions

Why are we doing SACC ? Ability to self assess is a critical life skill Allows students to: take responsibility for their learning identify where they are in their development look for opportunities for further growth develop Core Competencies to engage in deep learning understand their abilities in core areas (i.e., Communication, Thinking, Personal and Social)

Why are we going digital ? Creates an on line portfolio available from grades K-12 Allows for reflection and sharing with parents and teachers Promotes Global Stewardship It is the 21st century 

2018: What does it look like? Self-Assessment is completed electronically and stored in NVSD Scholantis Portal Student Portfolio (NOT in G4) Self-Assessment must be completed and uploaded to the portal the week of May 28 - June 1 Artifacts are optional for 2017-2018 school year

May – What does it look like? All students K-11 complete ONE Self-Assessment template Students reflect on all THREE Core Competencies Students choose the subject(s) to use for their Self- Assessment Students DO NOT have to reflect on all their subjects

Timeline – April Month Staff Students April School teams attend SACC session at Mountainside April 3@ 3:45 School teams share info from April session and support staff on portal process Staff create class sites on the portal Staff collaboratively decide on Core Competencies Summative Assessment template Staff upload Summative Self-Assessment template to class site Ongoing: Teach to (nurture) and practice (nurture) the Core Competencies and Self-Assessment Ongoing: Practice (nurture) the Self-Assessment of the Core Competencies

Timeline – May Month Staff Students May Facilitate completion of Self-Assessment Self-Assessment completed week of May 28th Login and open Summative Self-Assessment Complete and submit Summative Self-Assessment week of May 28th - June 1st
