Title I Information The “ESSA” – Every Student Succeeds Act requires that each Title I School hold an Annual Meeting of Title I parents for the purpose of… –Informing you of your school’s participation in Title I –Explaining the requirements of Title I –Explaining your rights as parents to be involved

What is Title I •Being a Title I school means receiving federal funding (Title I dollars) to supplement the school’s existing programs. These dollars are used for… –Identifying students experiencing academic difficulties and providing timely assistance to help these student’s meet the State’s challenging content standards. –Purchasing supplemental staff/programs/materials/supplies –Conducting parental Involvement meetings/trainings/activities –Recruiting/Hiring/Retaining Highly Qualified Teachers •Being a Title I school also means parental involvement and parents’ rights.

CIP •The CIP is your school’s Continuous Improvement Plan and includes: –A Needs Assessment and Summary of Data –Goals and Strategies to Address Academic Needs of Students –Professional Development Needs –Coordination of Resources/Comprehensive Budget –The School’s Parental Involvement Plan •You, as Title I parents, have the right to be involved in the development of this plan.

Bell Schedule School ends at 2:48 Bell schedule is in the Student Handbook 1st bell is at 7:32 - students should be walking to their lockers or classrooms 2nd bell is at 7:36 - students should report to class 3rd bell is at 7:40 - this is the tardy bell!!! School ends at 2:48

RAPTOR FOR ID LABEL To help ensure the safety of our students, Oneonta Elementary and Middle Schools have implemented a new visitor ID verification system, “ The Raptor”.  All visitors needing access past the school office will be required to provide a valid government issued ID, such as a driver license.  This does not apply to those that only access the office, such as checking someone out or dropping off an item.

Bus Riders Check out the table in the H.S. Gym to learn about your bus number and meet your bus driver

Car Riders Drop off @ 7:00am at the front of the building (supervision is not available for earlier drop off) Car riders report to the elementary gym First period begins at 7:40 School dismisses at 2:48. Car riders are picked up as soon as the buses pull out from the back. Use the high school road entrance and drive toward the back. Students need to pay attention to their cars. We don’t call numbers, we bring in several cars at a time then release the students to their parents’ cars.

Student Handbook 2018-19 All Students will receive the Student Handbook 2018-19 on August 9, 2018. Parents and Students please check the following: Attendance Conduct codes and disciplinary actions Dress Code School Calendar Forms to sign

Fees eSchool Payments: https://oneontacityal.csiepay.com Locker Fee: $7 P.E. Uniform is recommended – navy shirt and gray shorts $15. Uniforms are available for purchase, but you may purchase your own matching uniform if you prefer. (PE Locker $5) Chromebook Fee: $40 each additional child $25 Choir Fee: $20 Band Fees see Mr. Gammon. LUNCH PRICES: STUDENTS $2.50 FACULTY $3.25 VISITOR $3.50 BREAKFAST $1.25

Lockers Lockers are assigned by alphabetical order and available at Open House and 1st day of school Locker Fee $7

INOW HOME PORTAL ACCESS Parents can actively check on students’ progress, attendance and discipline via INOW. Students will be given their INOW username and password early in August to check their accounts.

General School Rules Respect school properties and other students’ properties as well Avoid absences and take care of make-up work without reminders Adhere to the student code of conduct. If you cannot make it to early morning detention, speak up before it becomes ISS. Act responsibly: monitor your grades and do your best to bring your grades up before the end of each quarter. Understand the relationship between your actions and your academic success Be a good role model and a peer mentor for OMS

General Classroom Rules Schedules – hold on to your schedule in your binder until you memorize it. Supplies – Make sure you have your supplies for each subject before you enter the class. Chromebook – charge it daily and bring it with you to each class. Homework - Check each teacher’s classroom board and canvas calendar. Agenda - Write down assignments and meet due dates. Establish a system (hard copy agenda or google calendar) to track your assignments Quarterly Final Exams and Comprehensive Semester Exams E-mail the teacher to discuss academic struggles E-mail the counselor to resolve a conflict or seek advice.

Schedule Change August 24th is the last day for students to request a schedule change. Schedule Change Request Form requires Parent/Counselor, Teacher and Student signatures. By Quarter 1 Midterm is the last chance to come out of a Pre-AP course.

Parent Follow up E-mail teachers regarding academic concerns Teachers’ contacts are available on OMS website: “School Staff” If you prefer to meet with the teachers personally, you can schedule a conference by e-mail Contact the counselor/principal for other concerns and resolve issues at their onset before they escalate.
