Holmium In 1879, Holmium were discovered by Per Teodor Cleve, a Swedish chemist. Holmium element got its name from Stockholm, Sweden, which is Per Teodor Cleve’s birthplace. Holmium is a rare element on Earth. It is a soft and silvery-white metal. Holmium has the highest magnetic permeability among other elements on the periodic table. Ho (164.9) Holmium can be use as a burnable poison in nuclear reactors. It can also be use in medical, dental, and fiber-optical applications. Holmium can be found in minerals minozite and gadolinite.
