“Fish Cheeks” Vocabulary By: Mrs. B

Appalling Appalling- causing shock, disgust, or alarm Opening your mouth to show someone your chewed food is appalling.

Resemble Resemble- to be like or similar to These dogs resemble their owners.

Clamor Clamor- a loud and confusing noise A clamor outside woke them in the middle of the night.

Rumpled Rumpled- to become wrinkled or crumpled Tissue rumples easily.

Despair Despair- loss of hope; hopelessness The dog fell into a state of despair after his owner moved away without him.

Grimace Grimace- a facial expression, often ugly or twisted, that shows disapproval or pain The talent show judge grimaced at the awful singing.

Identity Identity- the unique set of qualities that make you who you are A person’s identity includes both physical characteristics you can see on the outside as well as characteristics you can only know by getting to know who that person is on the inside.
