To improve the frequentation of hospital Activities / Highlights BATOURI ADVENTIST HOSPITAL, CAMEROON Roger MUHINDO MUHEMI, MD PO.BOX: 58 BATOURI, CAMEROON Email: rogermuhemi@yahoo.fr To improve the frequentation of hospital Introduction Activities / Highlights We increased communication with the community towards opinion leaders (village chiefs, pastors, Imam , youth leaders , etc.), We repainted the wall of the main wards (surgery, medical, pediatric, maternity, general), Water supply: we have made a drilling with a solar suction-pump, Solar power supply in the main wards, and We bought new mattresses and covered all of them with mattress covers. Batouri Adventist Hospital is located in the eastern region of Cameroon, in the small town named Batouri. Nowadays, the number of health institutions has increased: 3 hospitals and 5 clinics. In this environment, competition is tough and the patients are very hard to please. They want every thing to be done differently and they choose quality; although they usually don’t have enough money to pay the treatment fees. Statistical Summary History Since the beginning of this year, the hospital has gone through different challenges with its functionalities. This has occurred because our patient numbers have decreased since last year. Low frequentation also means low income in terms of finances for the hospital! At that time the questions were: “Why this?” and “How to manage this?” We realized that the hospital was liked but our infrastructure and all facilities were too old and not attractive. Mission Future Goals The mission of HAB is to proclaim eternal gospel contained in the three Angels’ message (Revelation 14:6-12), to invite people to become Christ’s disciples and to heal those who are suffering according to Jesus Christ’s method. To extend our chemist’s shop, To have one ward for private or semi-private rooms, To renew our maternity, delivery and labor rooms, and To supply our laboratory with analyst machines.
